Hello, I’m Mike Parkinson, a builder, carpenter and landscaper with more than 27 years of professional experience. I’m a lifelong resident of Hamilton County and currently live in the city of Montgomery with my wife, Cynda and our two children. I have spent my life in the construction industry, first as a child growing up observing and learning from my dad, whom at the time built custom homes, to my professional career where I have extensive and broad experience with operations, management, design and hands on trade work. There is an unexplained beauty in architecture and the methods in which we construct our built environment that has always grabbed my time and interest. I thrive on this passion, and it drives me to continue learning and implementing new methods and materials that improve upon the way we build. One of these being the construction standard Passive House which I have studied and obtained certification in. Passive house looks at the energy consumption of our homes and lays out a standard with verifiable targets to achieve a highly energy efficient home, typically using wood for the structure and many of the finishes. Naturally, being a carpenter by trade and having a deep appreciation for our nature, wood is my go-to material which when managed properly is a sustainable resource from tree to house. All too often we live and build without thinking about the land impacted, the resources used, and the waste generated. I believe in the pursuit of sustainability we can build better, by designing functionally compact, using people + planet responsible materials, and minimizing consumption and waste.
When not working my family and I enjoy being outside - camping, traveling, hiking and biking. We love year-round time with family and friends, and in the summer months you can find us at the community pool.
